Nicole Lyons
Nicole Lyons is a freelance trumpet player based in London. Her diverse career sees her playing with orchestras, in chamber ensembles, in shows and as a soloist. Nicole has played with many different orchestras, including London Soloists Chamber Orchestra, New London Orchestra, Southern Sinfonia and the Aurelian ensemble and orchestra. As a founding member of the trumpet quartet “Bella Tromba”, she has performed at the Southbank’s Purcell Room, live on BBC Radio 3’s “In Tune” programme and at Cheltenham Festival, as well as many other recitals up and down the country. She is also involved with outreach work, working with Live Music Now! as well as with other organizations.
Nicole completed her Masters at the Royal Academy of Music in September 2006. She achieved a first class honours BMus Degree from Goldsmiths College, University of London before arriving at the Academy. She has studied under James Watson, Paul Archibald, Mark David, Howard Snell and Andy Hendrie.
Nicole was very active in the music life both at Goldsmiths and at the Royal Academy, playing in many of the orchestras, taking principal roles, performing in various ensembles and taking part in LPO schemes. She has also worked closely with new composers and continues to do so. In the last few years Nicole has performed as a soloist and played within various ensembles not only through college but also nationally and internationally.
