Jo Harris
Josephine is a freelance trumpet player based in London. Her diverse career includes working as a chamber and orchestral musician and as an animateur with Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now scheme.
As a solosist Josephine has peformed concerti by Vivaldi, Haydn, Hummel and Arutunian. Her chamber work has included TV appearances on BBC Songs of Praise and as part of the trumpet quartet, Bella Tromba, she was awarded the Park Lane Group Young Artist Award in 2006.
She has worked with many notable orchestras including the London Mozart Players, Britten Sinfonia, the Orchestra of St Johns, the National Symphony Orchestra, Brandenburg Sinfonia and the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra.
Josephine beggan her studies at Birmingham Conservatoire with Jonathan Holland, Principal Trumpet of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. During her time in Birmingham, Josephine represented the Conservatoire at the NYOS Schema Awards and performed as a soloist for several notable recital series. In 2003 she was chosen by the CBSO brass panel for participation in the CBSO Training Scheme, enabling her to rehearse alongside the CBSO.
Josephine completed her training in 2005 at the Royal Academy of Music where she studied with Paul Archibald and Howard Snell. Whilst at the Academy Josephine performed as Principal Trumpet with the Academy Symphony Orchestra and the Academy Brass Soloists and participated in the London Symphony Orchestra Side by Side Scheme.
